Parks, Open Spaces and Walks
Within Twyford two large parks exist, namely King Georges and Stanlake Meadow. King George’s field has a skate board park, extensive children’s facilities and a tennis ground. The villages surrounding Twyford also benefit from their own facilities including smaller fields and playgrounds.
With an abundance of restaurants to choose from within Twyford and the surrounding villages you will never be short of different food to try. With active Parish Councils, clubs and society’s in the villages and Twyford, many events take place, including summer and Christmas events as well as smaller monthly events. Some of these take place on the public open spaces and others within the village halls, cricket clubs and churches
Children’s Play Areas
Twyford play areas for toddlers are situated in Orchard Estate and Wessex Gardens and for juniors in Hurst Park Road, Orchard Estate, Verey Close, Broad Hinton and Wessex Gardens. Ruscombe has areas for toddlers and juniors in Pennfields. Charvil has play areas for toddlers and juniors in East Park Farm Drive and in Park Lane. Hurst has play areas for both toddlers and juniors in Dinton Pastures and for toddlers in Martineau Lane.
Dinton Pastures Country Park in Hurst has 7 lakes, 2 rivers and meadows. Three public bird hides are available, one of which has wheelchair access. There are several circular footpaths ranging in length from 1 to 3 miles. There is also a café, toilets and parking.
Charvil Meadows and Charvil Country Park are traditionally managed meadows and former gravel pits, rich in wildlife with an active heronry
The 25m outdoor heated pool at Polehampton Junior School on Kibblewhite Crescent is open from May until September for local residents.
The nearest turn up and play golf course is at Dinton Pastures. It is a 9 hole, par 70 course with clubs, trolleys and buggys available for hire.
There are tennis courts available for hire at King Georges Field and also at East Park Farm in Charvil.
